The Village Pre-School has 2 qualified Forest School Leaders (Lesley Routledge and Nicky Lovegrove) and we run sessions twice a week, throughout the year in Common Wood.
Forest School is an outdoor learning experience originating in Denmark, which offers children opportunities to develop self-confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning in our local woodland environment. Children learn new skills and are encouraged to challenge themselves and take risks. During Forest School sessions children can explore and interact with nature in a safe and inclusive environment and, following the ethos of Forest School, go out in all weathers to experience their natural environment and the changing seasons.
‘There is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing’
Children are invited to attend Forest School for 2 hour block sessions usually over a period of ten weeks to give them the time and consistency to develop their skills and enjoy the magic that Forest School creates. Forest School is an important part of our curriculum and we ensure that all children have at least one term of Forest School sessions before they leave to go to school.
