Snacks and meals
We have a Highly Commended accreditation from NHS Buckinghamshire for the Smile Award as part of the Change for Life initiative. We try and make snack time an extension of the children’s learning, providing a wide variety of choice of fruit/vegetables/cereals or crackers for the children each day. We offer the children the opportunity to participate in snack time between the hours of 9.45am and 11.30am with a dedicated member of staff to offer conversation and learning experiences around healthy eating as well as looking at the differences between fruit that is prepared and that on offer on the shelves of a supermarket. Do be sure to tell us about your child’s dietary needs and we will make sure that these are met.
If your child is staying for lunch, we ask parents to provide a packed lunch. Here is a link to help you with some ideas for packing a healthy lunchbox for your child: https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes#lunchbox-recipes
Due to the potential risk of nut allergies, we ask that NO products containing nuts are brought into Pre-school.
Is there a uniform?
Yes, there is a uniform, although it is optional. Polo shirts and sweatshirts with the Pre-school logo are for sale from this link: Many parents favour uniform as it means there is no discussion each morning about what to wear and it also ensures that your children’s clothes do not get spoiled during the child’s day of learning, exploring and having fun 😊
What do I need to provide?
We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them to do this. it is helpful if your child has a spare set of clothes in case of accidents!
We provide protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities.
If your child is attending Forest School sessions they will require additional clothing. A list will be provided prior to your child attending the sessions (you will also be asked to sign a permission and medical information form).
If your child is staying for an extended session please provide a packed lunch. Other drinks and snacks are provided.
A water bottle is also helpful so your child can access their drink independently.
